History of the band
Previous to starting up Devil's Fire, all the band members had been in various bands scattered around the North West, - from bands as diverse as traditional folk right through to country and rock and roll.
The original line-up was Dave Hayes on mandolin, Terry Bailey on guitar and 5 string banjo and Steve Andrews on bass. A matter of a few months later we were joined by Derek Eccles on drums. This line-up continued until 2005 when Steve left to be replaced by Dave Smith (Daz) on bass. Shortly afterwards, Terry went off to form his own folk band and was replaced by Martin Conway on guitar. It was at this stage that the band started getting a little rockier and doing more classic rock and roll numbers between the dances and at the end of the evening.
Back in 2008, Martin left to be replaced with Greg Slater on guitar and the present line up is now complete, namely:- Dave Hayes on mandola and mandolin, Derek Eccles on drums, Dave Smith on bass, Greg Slater on guitar. Steve Andrews has now returned to Devil's Fire as our regular Caller.
What do we do?
Well, apart from providing excellent music for you to dance to, we come complete with our own sound system and a Caller to call you through the dances. We also bring along an MP3 player for the break, - so that there is never a time without music. We can also bring along a CD player if anyone has their own music that they want to be played during the evening (such as a bride and groom's first dance - or during the break).
Reasonably priced, - they always make any wedding receptions or parties a roaring success.
